Travel Diary

Tropical Guam Trip on a Bullet Trip

In this report, I would like to describe my trip to Guam in August on a very short schedule of 2 days and 1 night!

  • You may be thinking, “How is Guam in just two days?” But thanks to its proximity (about 3.5 hours by plane) and compact tourist attractions, the trip was surprisingly very fulfilling.
  • In this article, I have compiled a detailed description of the preparation before departure, how to spend your time in the area, and the booking sites and tours that we were happy to actually use.
  • We went trekking to the unexplored “Pagat Cave” on the day we arrived, strolled along the beach and around the city in the evening, and enjoyed a BBQ with fire dancing at Hotel Nikko Guam at night!
  • Including a squall that soaked us all, we also introduce some episodes that will be useful for those who are going to Guam in the future!

You can enjoy Guam so much in a short period of time! Please enjoy the experience of “how much fun Guam can be even in a short period of time” in this article.

Immigration clearance is smooth and takes about 30 minutes.
After passing through customs and exiting the airport lobby, you will find the Hertz counter near the “West Exit” on the left side.

This time, since the car model we had reserved was not in stock, we were upgraded to a higher grade car for free!

✅ Car rental points

  • We booked a Hertz rental car through QEEQ.
    • QEEQ’s car rental reservation is an online platform for international and low-cost international car rentals (you can compare from over 300 internationally renowned car rental companies)
    • Reservations can usually be made up to 3 hours before the start of use
    • No cancellation fees, so reservations can be made relatively flexibly

→ This really is a spectacular view. It was great in the morning and in the evening!

8:00 AM Trek to Pagat Cave, an unexplored region!

Departure for Pagat Cave expedition, the highlight of this trip!
Early in the morning, I headed to the meeting place and met my guide before heading into the jungle.

Check out this article for the rest of the story and more details! ⬇️

2:00 PM|Return to the hotel for a rest. Pool and beach experience overlooking Tumon Bay

It was past 2 pm when we returned to the hotel after our trek to Pagat Cave.
After that, we cooled down at the beach and pool directly connected to the hotel!

▼ Tumon Beach Features

  • Shallow water: so shallow that you can walk up to 50m offshore!
  • More coral: Bare feet hurt, so crocodile swim or marine shoes required (lol)
  • The waves are calm, so it is good for travelers with children.
  • Excellent transparency, you can even see the bottom of the ocean!

▼ Hotel’s infinity pool

The infinity pool, which appears to be connected to the ocean, is like something out of a magazine!
You can relax on a beach bed or go for a swim.
This is what a resort is all about! I had a great time at the resort.

3:30 PM|Gourmet food to fill up on! Excellent Guam burgers at Meskla Dos

Hungry after a quick swim, I went to Meskla Dos, a popular restaurant about a 3-minute walk from the hotel.
Meskla Dos is a locally famous burger restaurant that opened in 2010 and has two locations on the island of Guam. It specializes in burgers and is very popular with both locals and tourists.

▼ Order Menu

  • Achang Bay Blue Burger($12.5)
→The rich aroma of blue cheese and the juicy patty are irresistible!
  • Guetes Cheese Burger($11.5)
→Cheese-filled, classic and never boring deliciousness.

I had intended to eat it in the restaurant, but it seems that the order was communicated as take-away, so it was served in a container. However, this take-away container was surprisingly excellent!

  • Not very photogenic, but while the burgers are large and hard to eat, they are easy to hold and eat securely without spilling.
    → **“Dare to order in a take-away container”! **

The fries are sprinkled with hot chili powder, giving them an addictive spicy flavor!

4:30 PM|Tamon town walking and sudden squall

After lunch, go for a stroll in Tumon on foot.
While browsing shopping malls and ABC stores, check out souvenirs and limited-edition goods!

🛍 After dinner, go to The Plaza Shopping Center

After lunch, I went to “The Plaza Shopping Center ”**, which is about a 3-minute walk from the hotel.

This is a large shopping mall in the center of Tumon, with the following stores:

  • Apparel brand stores: COACH, Lacoste, Marc Jacobs, etc.
  • Cafes & Restaurants: Hard Rock Cafe (get a limited edition T-shirt!)
  • Variety shop: ABC Store
⇒ Local goods, souvenirs, tanning kitty, Guam T-shirts, snacks, tableware and furniture!
  • Leisure: Aquarium of Guam

🏨 6:00 PM|Return to the hotel and take a rest

☔ Unexpected trouble! Squalls occur…

While enjoying shopping, we suddenly encountered a torrential downpour (squall)!

I didn’t have an umbrella, so I had to run to the hotel, soaking wet from the 2-minute walk…!
The weather in Guam is changeable, so it is best to always carry a folding umbrella. ☂️

We returned safely despite being drenched by the rain. After a short rest at the hotel, we prepared for our evening plans♪

🔥6:30 PM|Sunset BBQ & Fire Dance Dinner at Hotel Nikko Guam!

Around 6:30 p.m., we will move to Hotel Nikko Guam**, a 5-minute drive from the hotel.

Here you can enjoy a BBQ dinner and watch an authentic fire dance show right in front of you🔥

Check this article for the rest and more details! ⬇️

🛒 9:30 PM|Time for shopping at Kmart

After dinner, go to Kmart, a large supermarket about a 10-minute drive from the hotel!

🛍 What’s Kmart?

It is a famous 24-hour superstore in Guam.
You can find all kinds of products such as souvenirs, daily necessities, toys, clothes, and snacks!
The store is spacious, so it is fun just to look around.

🌺 Haul

  • Purchased Frangipani Hairpins ($3)
→ With its Guam-like flower motif, this item will lift your spirits just by putting it on ✨
  • It’s also perfect for boosting your travel spirits!

💤 11:30 PM|Back to the hotel and went straight to sleep…

Since I was active until late at night, I went to bed soundly that night.
Tomorrow morning is also early, so I will recharge my energy!
