Q1. what is the budget for a trip to Shanghai?

A. Approx. 100,000-130,000 yen for 3 days/2 nights

  • Airfare (round-trip LCC): 30,000-50,000 yen
  • Hotel (1 night): 7,000-10,000 yen
  • Food: around 15,000 yen
  • Leisure (Shanghai Disney, etc.): 10,000-20,000 yen
  • Souvenirs: 10,000-20,000 yen

Q2: Which airlines do you recommend for airline tickets?

A. For LCCs, Jetstar and Spring Japan are recommended because they are inexpensive.
Although their services are simpler than those of full-service airlines, a round-trip is possible for around 30,000 yen if you aim for a sale.
If you value comfort, ANA, JAL, and China Eastern Airlines are also options.

Q3. How do I get around Shanghai?

A. Basically, we recommend using the subway.

  • Fares are inexpensive, ranging from about 100 yen per trip.
  • If you get a “Shanghai Public Transportation Card”, it will make your trip smoother.
  • Cabs are inexpensive, but be aware that there are many traffic jams.

Q4. how to pay: cash or cashless? Cashless?

A. Shanghai is a cashless society.

  • Basically, you can pay with Alipay (支付宝) or WeChat Pay
  • Tourists can use the “Alipay for Tourists” app to easily pay with a credit card.
  • There are almost no situations where cash is used.

Q5. What hotel areas do you recommend?

A. If this is your first time, I recommend the Nanjing East Road and the Bund area.

  • Conveniently located within walking distance to tourist attractions.
  • Reasonably priced and clean hotels

Q7. How do I get a SIM card and Wi-Fi?

A. China Unicom SIM and eSIM are convenient.
